Note to Parents
As a former writing professor at Xavier University for more than fifteen years, I understand the academic, social and emotional pressures of young adults. With this in mind, my work is meant to support students but also teachers and parents in effort to achieve academic success and a balanced life for young adults.
As a tutor, I focus on writing and communicating ideas across disciplines, whether it be with English and history or with math and science. As you know, challenges with writing in any of these disciplines can affect student success in high school and then onto college. With this additional instruction beyond the classroom, I can provide support for the struggling students or sharpen skills with advanced students.
As an academic coach, I work with students in improving time management strategies and developing weekly homework/due date calendars. I meet with students once a week and follow-up with them bi-weekly to monitor their progress. Further, I may act as a teacher/student/parent liaison when needed.
In academia for over twenty years, I have seen the mental health of students in decline. As a mother of two young adults, I have experienced heartache watching my daughters struggle. Therefore, I am committed to working with students so they may flourish under academic and social pressure.
